Zach was a Media Production Specialist for BYU Continuing Education during Winter 2026.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
As a media production specialist, I wrote copy for a 40-page informational booklet for BYU Online High School and Meta advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. I also produced 8 promotional videos for BYU Independent Study courses and wrote blog posts promoting new courses. I also wrote a journalistic-style recap of a devotional with Brandon Mull, and I used graphic design, video production, and photo editing software to create content.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I learned that it is important to be marketable and versatile as a media professional. In this role, I worked with photos, videos, written content, and new software, and I felt the experience helped me broaden my skills and abilities. How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
I plan to continue working on projects with all types of content, (photo, video, graphics, etc.) and I will keep working with BYU CE until the end of the summer!
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
I had the opportunity to watch a BYU Online High School devotional with Brandon Mull and then write a recap on what he said. I appreciated the opportunity to ponder on how God has worked in my life, and I realized just how many experiences I had this semester that were influenced by God for my good.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
I would definitely recommend this internship to other students! My supervisor always encouraged me to learn and grow with new software, and he always asked me how he could support me in my path toward becoming a media professional. I loved the content and projects I worked on, and I learned so much about education, technology, and workplace dynamics during my time with BYU CE as well!
