Miriam was a PR Assistant for Authenticity PR during Spring 2025.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
During my internship at Authenticity PR, I reviewed and matched media opportunities—including podcast guest placements and Source Requests (SOS queries)—to clients across industries such as health and wellness, tech, education, and business consulting. I assessed the fit between media opportunities and client expertise, then crafted tailored pitches and media alerts that aligned with their brand messaging. I also contributed to blog content development and reflected on authentic communication strategies.
As a result, I helped clients gain relevant media exposure, improved my ability to write clearly and persuasively under deadline, and developed a deeper understanding of how strategic communication builds relationships and reinforces credibility. The experience sharpened my research, writing, and critical thinking skills—and reinforced the value of authenticity in all public relations work.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
One thing I didn’t expect to learn during my internship at Authenticity PR was just how much strategy goes into matching the right media opportunities to the right client. I assumed PR was mostly about writing and sending pitches—but I quickly realized that success depends on thoughtful alignment between a client’s message and a platform’s audience. I learned to think critically about audience demographics, podcast tone, industry relevance, and even timing. It taught me to slow down, ask better questions, and approach pitching as a relationship-building process rather than just a task to check off. That strategic mindset is something I’ll carry with me well beyond this internship.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
Because of my internship at Authenticity PR, my future plans have become more focused and intentional. Before, I knew I wanted to work in public relations, but this experience clarified what kind of PR professional I want to be—one who leads with authenticity, builds real relationships, and communicates with purpose.
I now see myself pursuing roles that align with values-driven, strategic communication—whether in an agency setting or in-house. I’m also more open to specializing in media relations and storytelling, two areas I found both challenging and energizing during my internship. Most importantly, I’ve learned that meaningful work doesn’t come from flashy spin—it comes from truth well told, and I want to build a career rooted in that principle.
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
My internship at Authenticity PR gave me a deeper appreciation for the power of honest communication. I’ve always believed in being genuine, but seeing how authenticity plays out in professional settings—especially in media pitching and storytelling—was eye-opening. I realized that you don’t have to exaggerate or oversell to be persuasive; in fact, the most effective messaging comes from simply telling the truth well.
That insight inspired me to lean into my own voice and trust that clarity, sincerity, and purpose can stand on their own. It also made me more confident in my ability to contribute, even as an intern, because I saw firsthand that thoughtful, honest work builds real connections and long-term value
