Meilan was a Markets and Policy Intern for Vivint during Fall 2023.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
I worked to build a markets guide for Vivint Energy Ops Inside Sale. I spent the semester researching state to state policy and analyzing sales data to project which markets will have the highest conversion rates for 2024
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I learned how to communicate in a professional office environment. From sending emails to setting up meetings, learning how to use Microsoft Office is an important skill that will transfer to my next job in an office.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
I was given the task to perform a monthly data audit and I found lots of fulfillment from doing it. It has made me decide to look more into the accounting major.
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
As noted before, I really enjoyed the audit I was assigned. I felt less fulfilled and a little more uneasy working with modeling out projections. It has helped me realize that I may want to try more accounting focused internships for the future.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
Yes, Vivint is very student friendly. They give you resources you need and the opportunity to explore your own interests. It's great for trying new things while receiving mentorship.
Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship? Why?
It was a great semester where I got to put my focus toward not just school, but building experiences and networks which I will use in my near future career.
