Marshall Young: Pre-Business

Marshall was a Continuous Improvement Intern for Intermountain Health during Winter 2025.

Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.

I did internal consulting for Utah Valley Hospital. I saved over $32,000, completed 8 process-improvement projects, and connected with over 50 professionals.

What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?

Christlike leaders listen more than they talk. Every single caregiver is important in a hospital, whether it's a cook, nurse, doctor, administrator, engineer, cleaner, or volunteer.

How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?

I was already planning on going into healthcare administration, but this internship solidified that plan!

Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.

Being in a hospital I was able to see the Lord's hand. Whether it was the care that was given, the healing that took place, or simply the way leaders interacted with caregivers, my experience helped me see Christ in the workplace.

Would you recommend this internship to other students?

Absolutely! It gives you amazing real-world experience in a hospital setting. You get to meet amazing professionals and develop valuable hard and soft skills. You're also given meaningful opportunities to lead teams.

Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?

I'm happy to help students get involved in this internship in the future!
