Maria Paz Arenas: Global Supply Chain Management

Maria was an Operations Procurement Agent Intern for The Boeing Company during Spring 2025.

Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.

During my internship, I worked within the BCA Propulsion Systems and Structures, and I was able to evaluate contracts with suppliers, work closely with engineers in the factories, forecasted safety stock for multiple parts of the aircrafts, etc.

What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?

I learned how supply chain professionals work closely with engineers (engineering designs, parts, etc), which I did not expect as a Procurement Agent intern.

How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?

Now I want to stay in the aerospace industry for my future career.

Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.

My internship experience taught me that even the smallest tasks can have a big impact on building something as complex as an airplane. It inspired me to take more ownership of my work and see how it connects to a bigger purpose.

Would you recommend this internship to other students?

Yes, I would 100% recommend this internship. It is a project-based internship where you learned a lot about your role in supply chain as well as the aerospace industry. Boeing truly cares about its interns, there's lots of benefits and lots of learning experiences outside of the office.

Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?

It was a great experience!
