Madison was an intern for the MTC during Spring 2024.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
I have been working on several key app development projects to help MTC employees be more efficient in their daily routines. As a result, these apps have reduced the amount of time it takes employees and managers to complete their tasks. This has allowed employees to focus more on their missionaries (people) and their development rather than administrative tasks (processes). It has also proven to be cost effective.
What did you learn in your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I learned how important it is to plan and figure out the main objectives of your role/project FIRST thing. If you do not have clear goals/requirements, it will take you a lot longer to accomplish your tasks.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
I plan to stay in this job because of how optimal the experience is. Working with the Church provides many leadership, technological and other neat opportunities unlike other areas in my field of interest.
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
I remember several times praying before starting a new project or to continue working on a project, and ideas would flow into my mind one step at a time. On one occasion, my teammate had an insight after we prayed together and we were able to solve a problem better than we had anticipated. I also received a lot of comfort during stressful times, such as the release of a new app or product and hoping all would be well.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
I would recommend this internship to other students. This internship has allowed me to grow and learn in a safe environment. You get to rub shoulders with those who love what they do and also love serving the Lord. They encourage you to stretch yourself and continue to improve. You learn many soft skills as you constantly communicate with clients and coworkers.
Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?
Just awesome overall! It has opened many opportunities for me. So grateful to put into practice what I have been learning in my major.
