Madison Bingham: Human Development

Madison was an Outreach Intern for Help Me Grow Utah during Fall 2025.

Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.

As an outreach intern, I was responsible for working closely with the Community Liaison to plan and attend outreach events for families, service providers, and physicians. I spent a lot of time telling families about Help Me Grow at community events and meeting with pediatricians to collaborate in serving families. The underlying goal was to increase referrals and enrollment in the program to increase support and access to resources for families.

What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?

During my internship, I developed strong professional communication skills and gained more confidence when communicating with others in different settings.

How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?

While this internship taught me that I don't want to pursue a career in non-profit work, it reaffirmed my passion for working one-on-one with children and families. It also increased my confidence in my ability to succeed in future jobs.

Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.

I developed a deeper love for God's children through serving and interacting with them, and this experience helped me narrow down my future career path.

Would you recommend this internship to other students?

Yes, I would recommend this internship to other students because it is an opportunity to be involved in the community, leave your comfort zone, and work in a supportive environment with the goal of helping families thrive.

Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?

Even though this internship wasn't perfectly aligned with my career plans, it was a really positive experience for me, and I learned a lot about myself and about family life and development.
