Liliana was an illustration intern for The House that Lars Built during Fall 2022.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I was surprised to find that I had much more growing to do in my communication skills. I felt confident going into the internship that I knew how to communicate effectively but I learned even more about it in my internship.
How have your future plans changes because of what you learned from your internship experience?
I learned a lot about how graduate school can help me find a path. The brand creator had begun the company as part of a grad school assignment. This helped me to see how I could use grad school to pursue meaningful projects.
One of the primary purposes of experiential learning at BYU is inviting the inspiration of the Spirit into your learning. How were you inspired during this experience?
I was very inspired by having an up close look at the inner workings of a brand. Seeing the community of workers all working on separate projects but all working towards building the brand gave me a new appreciation for teamwork.
Would you recommend this internship to other students, why?
They are very willing to work with you to make sure that you are getting the experience that you need as an intern. I was able to pitch ideas for product and my major project during the internship grew out of one of those pitches. It is also great to experience to working on a team that is very supportive. Overall I had a great experience.
