Keaton Pugh: Exercise and Wellness

Keaton was a program manager intern for Navitaire during Spring Term 2023.

Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.

Throughout the course of my internship, I was given the chance to lead many projects within our organization. I was also given the chance to communicate with many different types of people and work with people throughout different time zones. I grew in my technical proficiency by working daily with Excel and other programs. Finally, I was given free reign to oversee the projects that I was assigned to. It gave me the chance to learn from my mistakes and improve.

What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?

I think what stood out to me from what I learned in my internship that I wasn't expecting is the power that comes from working with those of different backgrounds. A large portion of the individuals that I worked with on a daily basis, live in Manila Philippines. Through this experience, I was given the chance to see how others work in a different place from me, and how to deal with time differences. This is something that many companies have to deal with, so I think this will be extremely helpful to me as I move forward along my career path.

How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?

This internship has shown me what my strengths and weaknesses are. I have also learned that it's not always most important to overcome your weaknesses, but also to utilize your strengths to the best of your ability. For this reason, I have come to recognize that I must put myself in positions to succeed in roles, and with organizations that will utilize my strengths.

Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.

Similar to what I explained my last answer, I learned a lot about myself throughout this internship. This included how I work when I get burnt out, and in what situations I succeeded most often. This inspiration has led me to seek positions where I am the most likely to succeed in my own way.

Would you recommend this internship to other students?

I would highly recommend this internship to other students that are in the exercise science domain, but are more looking to target a business career upon receiving their undergrad. This company is great at working with school schedules and helping me succeed.
