Kaylee Dillard: Public Health

Kaylee interned for Hope4Utah as an office assistant during spring/summer 2022 semester.

Describe a day in your life as an intern.

I would come into the office and be at the computer for 4 hours doing my assigned tasks. Some of these tasks included updating a health care provider list, planning prevention walks, and working in the merch store.

What industry/job specific skills did you learn?

I did a lot of research in this internship and feel that my research skills have multiplied. I learned how to work with a team and the behind the scenes of what goes into a successful non-profit organization.

What is one thing you learned from this internship experience that could be applied to other settings?

I learned communication skills and teamwork which I will be able to use in all of my future jobs

What was your favorite part of your internship experience?

I loved getting to be involved in planning our prevention walk. Getting to work with stakeholders gave me an awesome opportunity to meet others involved in suicide prevention and education.

How did this internship experience affect your future goals?

I think my internship helped me to recognize that my strengths are more so the behind the scene skills rather than my original plan to be on the front lines.

How did you find your internship?

Through the recommendation of a professor.
