Kameron was a FS SALT Intern for PricewaterhouseCoopers during Winter 2026.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
During my internship with PwC as a Financial Services State and local taxes intern, I worked on three different teams and completed a variety of tasks that supported tax compliance and client service. My work included updating database information, preparing Power of Attorney and notice responses, creating tax compliance workbooks, generating K-1s and client reports, and contacting state agencies to gather important details such as entity state IDs and notice information. Through these responsibilities, I developed a better understanding of how our tax system works, improved my professional communication skills, and gained experience working both independently and with team members across different locations. As a result of this experience, I became more confident in my abilities, gained a clearer understanding of the demands and rewards of professional tax work, and strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in this field.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I didn’t expect learning about the federal side of tax compliance. My main role was State and Local Tax, but I was given lots of work related to federal compliance. It gave me an understanding of the process from start to finish.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
Due to the internship, I’m heavily considering graduating and immediately working in public accounting rather than going to law school right after I graduate with my accounting degree.
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
The internship was challenging and made me have to work hard to understand the real world processes that tax accountants use. This effort overtime along side being asked and helping several friends with their taxes made me gain inspiration that this is something I can see myself do as a professional. I see it as a way to make living, but also serve others as taxes is not something everyone likes doing.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
I’d recommend an internship with PwC for several reasons. These include interns get important work, PwC has abundant resources, and the team in SLC. Particularly are such great people and treat you like family.
