Jessica was a Imaging Service Intern for Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital during Winter 2026.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
For my internship I worked part-time at Utah Valley Hospital. I worked in the imaging department and got to learn about its inner workings. I learned more about healthcare, Intermountain Health and its mission, vision, and values, and about hospitals. Through my position, I worked on a team of over 110 and saw hundreds of patients. I was able to streamline processes, improve patient experience, and help patients in their time of need.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I expected to see a diverse group of patients, but I hadn't expected to work with such a diverse team. Getting to learn from my team's different perspectives was really awesome. Working on teams inside of my cohort helped prepare me to be a valuable team member at Intermountain Health.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
My internship experience has influenced me to go into hospital administration and patient rights and advocacy.
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
Getting to connect with so many patients and hear their stories confirmed that healthcare administration is the path for me.

Absolutely. Getting to work at Intermountain Health allows you to learn and grow while meeting other people who share the same mission, vision, and values as you.
Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?
My internship helped me get accepted into every graduate school I applied to. I was accepted into Cornell, Columbia, UAB, and Johns Hopkins. I was also awarded over $100,000 in scholarships. I will be attending JHU in the fall.
