Jared was a TALL Embark content specialist for The Missionary Training Center during Fall 2023.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
Worked with content of multiple languages. I had to make sure the translations and audios were correct so that missionaries would have the best content available for their language learning. Cooperated with many native speakers to ensure content accuracy. My work directly impacted missionaries because if they were given incorrect information, they would not be able to learn a language correctly.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
This semester, my team and I worked with another team to develop a new system within Embark. The project was related to the usage of OpenAI's ChatGPT and I did not know that my job could be used with AI to enhance users' learning.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
It didn't change much. I just like how this internship offered me an opportunity to learn new things

I think through this experience, I was able to decide more clearly what specific career I want to pursue
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
Absolutely. Yes. The Missionary Training Center is a unique workplace because it is organized by the Church, so there is always a spiritual aspect tied to any job in the MTC. You can feel that you are working for a good cause
