Isabel was a BYU EMS Intern during Winter 2025.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
I learned practical skills in emergency first aid and studied different medical conditions and trauma situations in order to serve others and become certified as a basic EMT. I also learned basic vital taking skills and patient care skills.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I learned to be confident in myself and my preparation as well as to work with a team to serve my community in emergency situations.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
I have decided to go further into healthcare and do more certifications to be able to serve in that field of work.
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
I was able to develop more self confidence in my ability to help those around me and inspired me to want to further my efforts to enter a career in healthcare.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
Yes. The teachers and TAs are very knowledgeable and helpful. I made really great friends in this class and learned skills that will help me throughout my life.
Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?
I loved it and would recommend everyone take the class, if not to help with a career, to be prepared to serve others in emergencies
