Hannah: History

Hannah completed an internship creating bibliographies for the Utah State Historical Society / Utah Historical Quarterly. Here is what she has to say about this experience:

What day-to-day tasks were part of this experience?

I would research pre-determined subjects thorough articles on the Historical Quarterly and in other places, I would read the articles I found on the subject and choose the best ones that would help others. I would then create an annotated bibliography for the best articles.

What would have better prepared you for this internship?

I could have had better time management skills and a better understanding of historical jobs.

Was this experience a confirmation that you are going in the right direction, or is it a pivot to something else?

Confirmation. It has shown me the highs and lows of researching and has glimpsed the potential I can have when I continue on this path. It has helped me see the hard work of others and help me to aspire to be like them one day.

Would you recommend this internship to other students?

Yes, this internship is a great opportunity to understand what historians have to research and helps to see how the research I have done can help others decrease their research in the future, It helps see some of the best sites are for researching and has helped me increase my reading skills. The people that you work with are amazing and very helpful, ready to help with anything you need. It is a great internship and has helped me see how historians work and helped me better certain skills.
