Hannah completed an internship with the Office of Congressman John Curtis. Here is what she has to say about this experience:
What day-to-day tasks were part of this experience?
I was answering phone calls, responding to emails, working on general casework for constituents, greeting guests, and occasional special projects.
What would have better prepared you for this internship?
I would have loved more encouragement from the internship coordinators in the School of Communications.
Was this experience a confirmation that you are going in the right direction, or is it a pivot to something else?
Pivot. I learned that I would prefer to work for state or local government rather than federal government.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
I would recommend this internship to other students because it was a great resume-builder, and a good way to get my foot in the door. The experience itself was lacking and the internship supervisor at the Congressman's District Office treats the interns poorly.
