Emilie Mikkelsen: Marketing

Emilie was a brand and content intern for Breeze Airways during Winter 2024.

Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.

During my internship with Breeze Airways, I focused on managing the company's social media channels and initiating an influencer program. My responsibilities included creating engaging content, monitoring audience engagement, and identifying potential influencers to collaborate with. By working closely with the marketing team, I helped develop strategies to enhance Breeze Airways' online presence and reach a wider audience. The experience allowed me to gain valuable insights into brand management and digital marketing strategies, contributing to the growth and success of the airline's social media initiatives.

What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?

During my internship with Breeze Airways, I unexpectedly learned about the intricacies of building and managing an influencer program, discovering its significant impact on brand visibility and engagement. I gained insights into the complexities of forming authentic partnerships with influencers, including negotiating contracts and aligning messaging with brand values. Witnessing the power of storytelling and authenticity in influencer marketing reshaped my understanding of modern marketing strategies. I learned the importance of cultivating genuine relationships with influencers to create meaningful connections with target audiences.

How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?

Prior to the internship, I had a general interest in marketing but lacked clarity on my specific career path. However, the hands-on exposure to digital marketing, brand management, and influencer relations during my internship ignited a passion within me for this field. As a result, I have decided to pursue a career focused on digital marketing and brand strategy, with a particular emphasis on leveraging storytelling and authenticity to connect with audiences. I now aspire to work in roles that allow me to create compelling content, develop innovative marketing campaigns, and contribute to the growth and success of brands in the digital landscape.

My internship with Breeze Airways was a pivotal experience that helped me discover my passions and clarify my career aspirations. Working closely with the company's brand and content team provided me with a hands-on opportunity to explore the dynamic world of digital marketing and brand management which I ended up absolutely loving.

I would highly recommend the internship with Breeze Airways to other students for several reasons. Firstly, the internship provides valuable hands-on experience in digital marketing, brand management, and influencer relations, which are highly relevant skills in today's competitive job market. Secondly, working with a dynamic and innovative company like Breeze Airways offers exposure to real-world challenges and opportunities, allowing interns to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
