Ella was an intern as an author for Meg Easton during Winter 2025.
Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
I spent my internship assisting a romance author with her marketing, editorial, and publishing needs. I was able to get personal advice and mentorship regarding the independent writing and publishing industry while simultaneously learning the ropes of the job through hands-on tasks.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I was not expecting the intricacies of indie publishing including amazon marketing strategies, audiobook narration proofing and hiring, and the sheer amount of research of authors in your similar field.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
I went into this internship more focused on the authorial side. I figured that I wanted to be an author, but after learning the details of the publishing industry, I discovered a fascination with it. Now, I am aspiring to be a publicist or an literary agent!
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
My experience helped me understand why authors are needed in this world. the difference that my author, Meg Easton, is making in this world is outstanding. There might be some people who don’t understand the nobility of writing romance, but Meg Easton and her passion for creating romantic, wholesome, and clean books has inspired me to follow the standards of our church and share my gifts with the world. Working through and for her has been truly a remarkable and inspiring experience.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
I would absolutely recommend this internship to other students. I was able to learn insider information about the publishing industry and even take a stab at certain tasks. It was extremely insightful and also incredibly remarkable to form a relationship with an author. I was so grateful to work with an author under my favorite book genre, and she has inspired me in so many incredible ways.
Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?
