Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
As an intern at CAPS, I was responsible for a variety of tasks, such as individual and group therapy, case management, crisis services, and quick-care consultation. The organization's mission to provide a complete spectrum of assistance for developmental, emotional, and interpersonal challenges perfectly aligns with my academic and professional aspirations. Engaging in individual and group therapy sessions allowed me to apply theoretical concepts learned in the classroom to real-life situations. The experience of providing crisis services and quick-care consultation reinforced the importance of swift and effective intervention in addressing the immediate needs of individuals facing emotional challenges. Furthermore, my internship at CAPS had a significant personal impact on me. Seeing the positive alterations in counseling clients reaffirmed my faith in the effectiveness of compassionate and client-centered therapy. CAPS' collaborative and supportive environment has not only enhanced my understanding of social work but has also encouraged personal growth and resilience.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I learned how to be a better version of myself and when to ask for help.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
Yes, they have changed. I am more mindful and conscious of what I want to do in the future.

In terms of learning outcomes, the internship at BYU CAPS has equipped me with practical skills that will undoubtedly shape my future endeavors in the field of social work. From refining my therapeutic techniques to honing my crisis intervention skills, every aspect of the internship has been a stepping stone in my professional development. To summarize, my internship increased my understanding of mental health issues in children and adolescents, improved my communication skills, and cemented my dedication to the field of social work.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
Like stated previously, my internship at BYU CAPS allowed me to see directly how mental diseases and illnesses affect different groups of students, giving me a better understanding of their particular struggles and requirements. This experience taught me how to communicate more effectively with my clients, allowing me to build trust and rapport while efficiently addressing their concerns. Furthermore, everyone at BYU CAPS was really helpful, especially my supervisors, colleagues, and other experts.
