Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.
I assisted the investment team on screening incoming pitch decks, due diligence work on potential investments, and monitoring of current portfolio companies.
What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?
I learned that I was very interested in the industrials and manufacturing space, and learned a lot about how involved private equity firms can be in the operations of running such businesses.
How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?
Yes, I now plan to tailor my future career in finance towards the industrials space.
Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.
It helped me better understand what I wanted to do with my life and how I could integrate my professional aspirations into a spiritually-fulfilling personal life that still prioritizes family. I was able to see this through the examples set by the senior leadership on the team. At other internships, I have typically only been in close proximity to the junior team and wasn't able to glean this bigger picture insight.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
Yes, for all the reasons I have previously outlined. It's a terrific investing experience and you get to make a lot of really valuable relationships.
