Angela Lamarche: Experience Design and Management

Angela was a social media intern for Tailored Travel during Fall 2023.

Briefly explain what you did and the result of your internship.

I work as a Social Media Specialist for a new startup called Tailored Travel. In the heart of my job are the main responsibilities of curating and sharing daily organic marketing content. I manage the company Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn platforms in order to drive B2B engagement and gain market entry within the group travel space. I post something every day on a platform and organize myself using a content calendar I built and Meta Business Suite. I create content on Canva using templates, my own ideas, or looking at competitors to analyze what they are doing well. Additionally, I will create one year’s worth of content that can be used when I am no longer at the internship. My efforts have led to multiple new clients and increased engagement and credibility on social media channels.

What did you learn on your internship that you were not expecting to learn?

The power of mentorship! My boss was so dedicated to not just helping me in work but helping me with my career journey, schooling, and personal life! It pays off to open up to people and care about them. I was able to make so many connections for things I needed because I reached out to them.

How have your future plans changed because of what you learned from your internship experience?

I am just more confident in my career path in marketing!

Please share how your experience led to personal inspiration or insightful revelation.

There was a time during this internship when I was really struggling with what my next step would be after this internship ended. After talking with my boss and her husband and getting advice and help and encouragement from them, I was able to land an internship for next semester that will really help set me up for a full-time job after I graduate!

Would you recommend this internship to other students?

Yes! It's important to find ways to get outside of BYU and work. The experience, mentorship, and real-world applications are so important.

I had an amazing internship working with a husband and wife team at their startup. I was so immersed in the B2B marketing world and fell in love with social media and content creation!
