Savanna Bagley: Business

Savanna participated in an on-campus internship by taking MSB 491R.

What type of projects did you work on as part of your Experiential Learning course?

For our social improvement project, we worked with an organization based out of D.C. called Unchained Stories. The organization is dedicated to changing the prison system through the power of stories. My team helped create a social media marketing plan in an effort to share their powerful stories with a wider audience.

What day to day tasks were part of this experience?

I did this class completely virtually. My teammates and partner organization only met on Zoom. But it was a really helpful experience in navigating working in a virtual environment. I was the team lead so I had to make sure everything was super organized and that our communication was super clear in order to pull off the project.

How has this experience influenced your career goals?

This internship helped me test the waters in the world of social media marketing. Ultimately, I haven't gone that route in my career, but it helped me learn before diving headfirst into something that ultimately wasn't the path I was supposed to go on.

What types of new opportunities are now available because of the experience?

It gave me the chance to learn new skills and build my resume while still having time for class because it was built into my schedule as a class and not just an internship.
