Nathan Thompson: Plant & Wildlife Sciences

Nathan completed a Mentored Learning Experience by taking PWS 494R.

What types of projects did you work on as part of your Experiential Learning course?

Environmental messaging in relation to climate change. I also have been involved in the development of a climate change exhibit for the Life Science Museum.

What day-to-day tasks were part of this experience?

Lots of going through articles to learn more about these topics as well as participating in meetings with my mentor and other professors and professionals to discuss my projects.

What did you unexpectedly learn?

I learned how easy it is to build connections and how willing most people are to meet and help.

How has this experience influenced your career goals?

This experience has helped me realize that I enjoy working with groups and networking with people. In whatever career I choose I would like to do these things.

What types of new opportunities are now available because of this experience?

I have made connections with people from various departments at BYU as well as people across the country because of this experience. I now have resources that I can rely on for future projects.
