Inspiring Learning Award 2021-22 Recipient

Kevin Peterson
Student Life Internship Provider
"Kevin Peterson is an incredible example of selfless service. Having worked 25+ years in the Provo Fire Department, healthcare system, and several years in the BYU police department, and being the coordinator for BYU EMS, all of his actions stand as proof that he cares for all those with whom he interacts. Kevin's "war stories" from his time as a first responder fill me with wonder and awe, and have inspired me to pursue service in the front lines of our community. He had taught me things about EMS that I never would have learned without him. I've learned good patient care and interaction skills. Kevin Peterson is a perfect role model, someone who I want to be like when I grow up. He surpassed my expectations for a supervisor within the first week of my participation with BYU EMS, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with him. He is an incredible man, and I am so pleased to work with him."

Trust, Communication, and Accountability
We are training the leaders of tomorrow. It might sound like a cliche, but I believe it. If I had to leave tomorrow, I would hope that this program could continue without any delays or problems. It is too important. I tell my students that it's their EMS agency, I'm just a resource to help them succeed.
