What types of projects did you work on as part of your Experiential Learning course?
During my practicum experience I taught in a kindergarten class every day. This helps me learn how to become a better teacher.
What day-to-day tasks were part of this experience?
I taught kindergarteners everyday, helped them learn to read, and assisted the teacher throughout her daily activities.
What did you learn unexpectedly?
I learned that I am a capable teacher. At first I was worried I wasn’t ready to be in charge of a classroom. But this experience helped me realize I can teach kids in an effective manner.
How has this experience influenced your career goals?
Before working with the kindergarteners I thought I wanted to teach an older elementary school grade. Now I plan on teaching a younger grade because I loved it so much.
What types of new opportunities are now available because of the experience?
I now have references and connections in that school that would recommend me for a job, or even hire me at the school I taught in.
