Semester/Term: Spring 2018
Organization: Romney for Senate Campaign
Position: Intern for Political Director
Please describe your internship opportunity. Explain what tasks you did and what resulted.
I have worked for the Political Director on the Romney for Utah campaign. This senate campaign has been extremely unique. A large portion of what I do is for the campiagn in general such as attending a couple events a week that Mitt Romney speaks at or representing the campaign sometimes at Meet the Candidate events that Governor Romney cannot attend. The other portion of my work is from headquarters doing other projects such as compiling a master contact list for elected officials all over the state of Utah.
What was the most useful thing you learned from your internship?
I have learned so many useful things but one of the most important is networking and making connections. It is wonderful to see how many people we have supporting us because of simple connections that have been built up over the past couple decades.
How did your courses and your major prepare you for your internship?
POLI 110 helped me have a better understanding of Utah Politics especially which has been very useful.
What professional skills did you develop in your internship?
I have devleoped better writing skills, networking, research, and much better time management skills as well as inter-personal and leadership skills.
Would you recommned this internship to other students? Why?
I would 10/10 recommend this internship to other students. It is the best opportunity I have ever had and each day my world is expanded because of the experiences I get to have like going to a rodeo with Mitt Romney or getting to hear Paul Ryan interview the ambassador from Saudia Arabia.
Is there anything else you would like to say regarding your internship?
It is a wonderful experience that has been the highlight of my college experience.
