Adding an Internship Course After the Add/Drop Deadline

Students whose internship applications are approved by the department internship coordinator and Experiential Learning and Internships after the add/drop deadline and prior to the discontinuance deadline will be automatically added into the internship course by the Records and Registration Office. Once the student’s internship application is fully approved, the Internship Registration and Management System (IRAMS) will generate and send an automatic email to the Registration Office team directing them to add the internship course to the student’s schedule. The IRAMS generated email will include specific information included in the student’s internship application. Internship coordinators need to be precise with the internship course number and section, and the number of internship credits approved in the internship application since that is the information that will be used by the Registration Office to add the internship course to the student’s schedule.

Change the Number of Credits After the Add/Drop Deadline

If you have a student who is enrolled in an internship course, and would like to change the number of credits will require you to send an email to the Registration Office. Please send the email to including the information listed below, if the discontinuance deadline has not passed.

Please include the following in the email sent to

  • Internship coordinator Name
  • Internship program/department
  • Student name
  • Student BYU ID
  • Current semester/term
  • Internship course name, number and section
  • Number of credit hours the class enrollment should be changed to

If it is past the discontinuance deadline, the student will need to complete on online petition process found on the Registration Office website.
